The films give insight into issues people face every day in the Middle East. Born into Brothels is a documentary of a journalist who travels to Calcutta to photograph prostitutes and ends up befriending local children. Rated R; running time 85 minutes.

Second in a series of three movies shown in conjunction with Hendricks County libraries' One County, One Book: Three Cups of Tea celebration. The films give insight into issues people face every day in the Middle East. Beyond Our Differences provides a variety of religious experiences and examines the unified message of hope that faith brings to mankind. In this documentary the works of Gandhi, Desmond Tutu, and the Dalai Lama are explored as well as several modern-day visionaries.

Genealogy After Hours

Want to spend some dedicated time working on your family history? The library will be open after hours from 6:30 to 9 p.m. for you to spend time in the Local History/Genealogy Department using print resources and genealogy databases and consulting with the genealogy staff. Grayson, a film historian and computer guru, will screen a low budget, 96-minute pilot of a show he produced, featuring clips from vintage Bela Lugosi films as well as repartee between Dr. Film and his irritating assistant Anamorphia. "Meet the Candidates" Forum

Join fellow citizens at the Guilford Township Community Center in Hummel Park to meet candidates running for US House of Representatives--District 4, US Senate, State Representative--Districts 40 and 91, Guilford Township Trustee, and Guilford Township Board. The event is co-hosted by the library and the Greater Guilford Township Civic Association (GTCA). GTCA has a long, successful history of moderating non-partisan political forums. Candidates will answer questions submitted by the audience, and attendees may also chat individually with candidates at the forum's conclusion. Registration is not required.
