Have you lived in Guilford Township all or most of your life, or have you moved to the area recently?
Either way, you'll find the library's Local and Indiana Information Department has a lot to offer! Among the department's holdings and services:
- Local histories (Yes, there are copies you may check out to read at home!)
- Family history/genealogy information – "how to" and information about local families
- Information about the Hoosier state: its history, geography, natural features, etc.
- Biographies of famous Hoosiers (David Letterman, Benjamin Harrison, Twyla Tharp, Jane Pauley, Ernie Pyle, Cole Porter, James Whitcomb Riley, Dan Quayle ...)
- Books by authors who are from Indiana, including Plainfield and Hendricks County
- How-to information about house styles, restoration and historic preservation
- Indiana-related programs which can enlighten you on many topics, such as an Antiques Roadshow-style program with a local auctioneer, various historical topics, or information on what kind of perennials are right to plant in this part of Indiana.
