Borrowing Materials
Borrowing Policy
Each borrower must bring and use his/her own library card to check out any materials.
The following materials may be borrowed up to 3 weeks:
- books (including audiobooks)
- magazines
- pamphlets
- CDs
- audio tapes
Audio cassettes & music CDs may be borrowed by card holders 14 years of age and older. Music CDs are limited to 10 per card
Video tapes & DVDs circulate to adults 18 years of age and older only. The are checked out for 1 week. Adults may check out 10 DVDs.
When returning these items, they must be returned to the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library only!
All long overdue material must be returned to the Circulation Desk so material can be discharged off your account properly.
Fees and Fines
The Plainfield Public library charges fines for overdue items. Library materials may be returned at one of the library's outside drop boxes. A drive-up drop box is located on and island in the middle of the drive, very accessible for the driver's side window. If that box is full, or you would rather pull over to the curb, the library also offers two drop boxes on the side of the building under the canopy.
Fees
The Plainfield Public Library has the following fees for patrons who are not eligible for membership:
- $30.00 for a Public Library Access Card (PLAC), allows the owner to obtain a library card at any Indiana Public Library for one year after the purchase date of the PLAC card.
- $80.00 for a Non-Resident Card, which allows patrons living in an area without a library to obtain a library card at the Plainfield Public Library.
Fines
The Plainfield Public Library charges fines for every day that
an item is overdue. The fines are as follows:
$1.00 a day for videos and cd-roms, and $0.10 a day for books, magazines,
cd's, and all other library materials
Payment
We accept cash, checks, debit and credit cards for payment of library fees and fines.
Unpaid fees and fines in excess of $25 may be turned over to an outside agency for collection.
