Borrowing Materials

Borrowing Policy

Full Evergreen Indiana Circulation Policy

List of Evergreen Libraries

As a member library of Evergreen Indiana, PGTPL offers our users access to materials at all Evergreen libraries statewide.  Users can search the catalog, place holds on materials from any library, and those materials will be sent here for pick up.  DVDs and a few other types of items are not holdable across libraries, but PGTPL customers can place holds on those types of materials, including DVDs, that are owned by PGTPL.  See the full policy for details.

In addition to access to all libraries in Evergreen Indiana, PGTPL has reciprocal borrowing agreements with all other libraries in Hendricks County. This means you can bring your home library card to us, and we'll issue one of ours.  Reciprocal borrowers do not have access to other Evergreen Indiana libraries and their materials.  Items from Hendricks County libraries must be returned where they were checked out.

Evergreen Indiana materials may be returned at any Evergreen library.

Fees and Fines

As a part of Evergreen Indiana, Plainfield-Guilford Township Public library charges fines for overdue items. Library materials may be returned at one of the library's outside drop boxes. A drive-up drop box is located on and island in the middle of the drive, very accessible for the driver's side window. If that box is full, or you would rather pull over to the curb, the library also offers two drop boxes on the side of the building under the canopy.

Fees

The Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library has the following fees for patrons who are not eligible for membership:

  • $30.00 for a Public Library Access Card (PLAC), allows the owner to obtain a library card at any Indiana Public Library for one year after the purchase date of the PLAC card.
  • $80.00 for a Non-Resident Card, which allows patrons living in an area without a library to obtain a library card at the Plainfield Public Library.

If an item is lost or damaged, the following fees apply:

  • Price of the item
  • $10.00 processing fee

These fees are non-refundable and the material is yours to keep. PGTPL does not accept replacement items in lieu of payment.

Fines

$.25 is charged for every day that an item is overdue with a maximum of $10.00 per item.  If the item is from another Evergreen library, payments must be made to the owning library.

Payment

We accept cash, checks, debit and credit cards for payment of library fees and fines.

Unpaid fees and fines in excess of $25 may be turned over to an outside agency for collection.
