2019 Friends of the Library Garden Tour
Great landscapes and gardening inspiration await you and your family and friends this summer. Enjoy a day outside taking in the beauty of local gardens while supporting the Plainfield Guilford-Township Public Library. The 2019 Friends of the Library Garden Tour is on Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23. You won’t want to miss it! This tour features gardens in Plainfield and the surrounding area that are sure to please everyone.
The Plainfield Garden Tour, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, is a unique, family-friendly event that has been an annual tradition since 2009. All proceeds from the Plainfield Garden Tour directly support library programs and initiatives.
The Plainfield Garden Tour committee is thankful for the many local businesses that have supported it over the past eleven years. “We all love and appreciate our local library. This is a great way we can support the library’s wonderful programming through community involvement,” explains John Chapin, Plainfield Garden Tour committee member.
A variety of gardens
This year’s tour will feature seven beautiful area gardens, which range in size from city and suburban lots to several acres. These gardens are the creations of avid gardeners. Most of the gardens are located in Plainfield with a few gardens only a short driving distance from town.
“The tour format has remained quite the same over the years,” said Chapin. “We have six to eight gardens open to the public each year. We always have a variety of gardens so that people going through them can get ideas and inspiration, as well as simply enjoy the flowers and landscaping.”
For the two-day Plainfield Garden Tour, tickets cost $12 per person. Tickets will go sale Wednesday, May 1 and may be purchased at one of the following locations: Avon Perennial Gardens, Frazee’s Brownsburg Landscape, “The” Hardware — Do It Best, or PGTPL.
