The Arts Gala fundraiser is just two weeks away!
This year the library will feature more than 80 local artists and their work at Arts Gala. The event raises funds for Library programs and initiatives that benefit the community, such as community engagement, children’s interactives, art classes, and mental health initiatives. Items for sale include paintings, drawings, greeting cards, prints, jewelry, functional bowls, mugs, vases, cutting boards, benches, coffee tables, boxes, artistic pieces, garden art, glass pieces, textile goods, handmade bound leather books, and much more. With such a wide variety of items for sale shoppers are sure to find something that catches their eye.
Arts Gala: Facets
The 2019 Arts Gala: Facets opens with a spectacular Starlight Reception on Friday, April 26, from 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live music, hors d’oeuvres, wine, and craft beers. The Arts Gala continues on Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 28, 1 – 5 p.m., with various live-artist demonstrations throughout the day. Art can be purchased at any time throughout the weekend. Everyone is welcome to attend.
“This year, Facets will be represented through fine art jewelry making,” explains Laura Appleby, Plainfield Public Library Art Gallery Coordinator. “Each year we feature a particular medium, signature artist and piece, making every Arts Gala unique. Just as Facets on a piece of jewelry are many-sided, the Library connects the brilliance of the community and its love of art.” Jewelry artist Brad Bickel is the Signature Artist for this year’s Arts Gala and a first-time artist for the event. “I am overwhelmed with excitement for this amazing fundraiser celebrating wonderful local artists. I hope my work will inspire others to explore the beautiful world of art!” says Bickel.
