The Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library Celebrates National Library Card Month
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and the staff at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library wants you to know the value of the Library goes beyond books.
Librarians are leaders in their communities – helping people of any age to find what they need to help improve their quality of life. This September, the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library is joining with the American Library Association and Libraries nationwide for Library Card Sign-up Month, an initiative to make sure that students have the most important school supply of all – a free Library card.
Resources at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library are available to anyone with a Plainfield Library card. Students can turn to the Library for materials and knowledgeable Library staff that support academic achievement. As new technologies evolve, Libraries continue to lead the way in providing access to digital tools and media. At PGTPL there are programs for all ages, social clubs, seasonal events and activities, museum passes, board games and even pocket Wi-Fi devices to check out and take home.
If you do not already have a Library card, you may register for one at the main desk at the Plainfield Library. The card is free to residents of Guilford Township. You will be asked to present a current Indiana driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID with your current address on it. If your ID doesn’t display your current address, you will also need proof of residence, such as a current utility bill, in order to receive a card. If you live in a township not served by a Library, you may purchase a non-resident card. If you would like access to all public libraries in Indiana, you may purchase a Public Library Access Card (PLAC card).
“Our Library provides access and programs for students of all ages and we work closely with our local schools” explains Joanna Sproull, Community Central Manager at PGTPL. “There’s really something for everyone, and it’s all free with a library card.”
