On Display: Indiana Cartoons & Cartoonists

On Display: Indiana Cartoons & Cartoonists

Thanks to Kroger and the Indiana Historical Society, we are able to host “Indiana Cartoons & Cartoonists” at the library from December 3-January 4! Stop by and see this free and exciting traveling exhibit anytime.

From the antics of fat-cat Garfield to the cracker-barrel philosophy of Brown County savant Abe Martin, the many creations of Hoosier cartoonists are highlighted in this colorful exhibit designed to amuse and intrigue your audience. The exhibition explores comic strips, such as “Chic” Jackson’s “Roger Bean,” which featured the lives of a typical Hoosier family. Some cartoons take on a serious tone like the editorial musings of Pulitzer Prize-winning artist John T. McCutcheon, a fierce opponent of America’s entry into World War II.

From December 3 to December 31 we will host our own cartoon contest! Grab a sheet by the display, draw your cartoon and return to us by the 31st. We will display these cartoons and pick a winner based upon voting to be awarded a prize.
