StoryWalk at Hummel Park

StoryWalk at Hummel Park

Patrons enjoying the opening day of the StoryWalk.

If you love reading as a family, check out PGTPL’s brand new StoryWalkⓇ at Hummel Park! We are so excited to announce this partnership with Guilford Township, and is sponsored by the Duke Energy Foundation, the Hendricks County Community Foundation, and the Friends of the Library.

A StoryWalkⓇ presents a picture book page by page along a trail or path, which families read while moving from display to display. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

The StoryWalkⓇ at Hummel begins at the playground and follows the trail towards the Splash Pad. The displays include a complete picture book with early literacy activities to enjoy together and a list of suggested books to read after you’re done! A new title will be featured every month throughout the year, including interactive stories and books that connect with local and seasonal themes.

Because a StoryWalkⓇ encourages both literacy and movement, it’s a perfect activity for families to enjoy together at Hummel Park. Developing a sense of wonder and lifelong love of learning are key for early childhood success, and a StoryWalkⓇ is a unique way for families to grow and bond in a natural setting.

Be sure to include #pgtplstorywalk and #hummelpark in any photos you post!
