Summer Reading 2019 was a blast!

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2019 Summer Reading Club, A Universe of Stories!

Children’s Summer Reading

Nicolette won the family membership to the Indianapolis Zoo

We had a great Completion Party for children on Saturday, July 20, featuring Mr Molecule’s space and science show. 245 of the 526 kids who finished level 3 attended!

We’re so proud of all the reading and early literacy activities kids worked on this summer. Altogether, 1302 children birth through 5th grade signed up for the 2019 Summer Reading Club! Even more kids completed one or more levels than last year. Everyone who participated contributed to an awesome year for the Summer Reading Club. We can’t wait for next year!

Nicolette won our grand prize: a family membership to the Indianapolis Zoo! Congratulations, Nicolette, and great reading! All raffle prize winners have now been contacted.

Thank you so much to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring the Summer Reading Club!

Teen Summer Reading

Teens gather for the Completion Party

Summer Reading Club 2019 was out of this world! We want to say a huge thank you to the 456 teens in grades 6-12 who participated in the program this summer. Whether it was completing reading log levels, participating in programs, or just spending time in Teen Central, you all made this a stellar summer.  Most impressively, participating teens read a total of 6,650 hours this summer. We hope you carry this enthusiasm for reading into this coming school year!

The Teen Completion Party on Saturday, July 20 hosted 85 of the 165 teens who finished level 3 of their reading log. The attendees stayed after hours to enjoy snacks, an escape room, karaoke, our VR systems, and more!  We announced the winners for the teen raffle prizes at the end of the party and have notified any winners not present.

After seeing the enthusiasm for this year’s Summer Reading Club, it’s hard not to look forward to next year. Thank you for reading so much this summer and for supporting your public library!
