Moumita Mukherjee in The Gallery

The library is proud to announce its upcoming art exhibit featuring the work of artist Moumita Mukherjee, on display from October through December 2025 in the library’s Gallery.

Mukherjee’s work is rooted in the human experience, exploring the depth of emotion and story through bold, layered acrylic paintings. She describes her artistic journey as one that began simply: “My artistic journey began with just a pencil and a sketchbook. I didn’t set out to become an artist; I just felt drawn to create. Over time, I found my voice through acrylics—they gave me the freedom to work intuitively, layer by layer, until the figures on canvas began to breathe.”

Her inspiration comes primarily from people and the moments that make up everyday life. “People inspire me—their stories, gestures, and emotional landscapes. My art is a response to the beauty, tension, and stories woven into everyday life,” she explains.

For Mukherjee, art is not only an act of creation but also of reflection and connection. “Creating art gives me space to slow down, reflect, and transform fleeting thoughts into something tangible and lasting. Art is my language when words fall short. It’s how I explore meaning, emotion, and connection.”

The exhibit offers the community a chance to experience her vibrant and deeply personal work in person. Visitors can also explore more of her art online at www.mumuscape.com.
