Teachers, Schools, and Students
  • You can ask for a longer loan period than the usual three weeks if it fits better with your plans.
  • We will visit your class for stories, book talks, and/or information about the library.
  • With a PIN number you can reserve and renew materials online.
  • Call us – 839-6602 x2109 – if you would like us to pull and hold books from a list or on a topic for you to stop in and pick up.
  • All students, teachers, and employees of Plainfield Community Schools are eligible for a free library card regardless of where they live. Teachers who are a resident of course have access to the entire Evergreen system of Indiana libraries.
Bring Your Class

We’d love to see your class at the library! Call us at 839-6602 x2109 a week or more ahead to schedule your visit. That way, we’ll be ready, and your visit won’t conflict with a library program or another class visit. When you visit, we can offer:

  • Tours, stories, book talks, and/or orientation to the Children’s Room.
  • Group project reference help.
  • “How to find a book” using our online catalog.
  • Theme or general book talks (also available in your classroom).
  • Browsing and checking out books by students, mix and match with the above.
Accelerated Reading Program

Accelerated Reading is a school-based program. Library staff has labeled many AR books to make it easier to find books at the right level. The labels are purple, and have the AR reading level right on the book spine.

Students read a book at their reading level, then take a test on the computer. Questions include vocabulary and comprehension for the story, and students earn points based on the number of questions they answer correctly. For more information contact your child’s school, or talk with your child’s teacher.

To look for a book with an AR test, go to Accelerated Reading.
