Advancing Racial Equity

Advancing Racial Equity

Black Lives Matter! Say Her Name! We Shall Overcome! These are phrases heard a lot from activists, protesters, and in difficult conversations.

In response to the outcry and unrest, the Indiana Humanities, along with funds from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., awarded our library a very generous grant to purchase materials that help advance racial equity. We are thrilled to have received this grant as we have seen a large demand for materials about racial equity, the fight for civil rights, and the experiences of African Americans both in the past and the present. We now have many more documentaries, nonfiction books, and literature that speak of racial equity and give a new perspective on social justice and the American life.

Please take some time to check out our display of items purchased through the grant and maybe check a few things out. You won’t regret it!

This program has been made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities with funds from Lilly Endowment Inc.
