Statewide Library Courier Transition

Statewide Library Courier Transition

Courier Service Changing Again

A new statewide library courier contract began on June 26. Over these past two months, the Indiana State Library has received feedback on the new service from the entire library community, including everyone from library patrons to directors and deans of academic libraries. Unfortunately, the new company was unable to keep up with the volume and complexity of Indiana’s public library routes. Many deliveries were made in error or not at all, mostly due to staffing and driver issues. For these combined reasons, the Indiana State Library will be pivoting back to the previous courier service to carry out the current contract.

Certain holds suspended until September 18

To ease the strain on the courier system during the transition, Evergreen Indiana is suspending the ability of patrons to place holds on items that would generate a transit; i.e. items on owned by your home library. This suspension of the normal holds function will last until September 18th.

If you have questions about a hold you placed earlier this summer or about an item you’re looking for that is not here at Plainfield, please ask – 317-839-6602 or AskUs@PlainfieldLibrary.net
