06 May Family Activities for Spring
The weather’s getting warmer and the seasons are changing! Here’s a list of activities to try for both those rainy and sunny days!
Sunny day activities
- Sidewalk chalk
- This is a classic spring and summer activity! Get some colorful chalk and let your imagination run wild. You can even crush up chalk, add a little water to make it a paste, and use it like paint! The best part is your sidewalk canvas will be washed clean with the rain or other water and be ready to use again!
- Go to the playground
- There are several great parks in the Plainfield area, such as Hummel Park near the library. While you’re there, check out our Story Walk! Take a look at the Plainfield Parks and Recreation website to find a park near you!
- Do an ABC Scavenger Hunt
- This is a great activity to get outside and notice how nature is changing with the seasons! What makes this scavenger hunt special is that you try to find something that starts with each letter of the alphabet.
Rainy day activities
- Shaving cream painting
- Fill a Ziploc bag with shaving cream and a bit of food coloring. Seal the bag and put tape around the edges. Then you can press the bag and push around the shaving cream and see how the colors change!
- Visit the library!
- We’d be happy to see you here on a rainy day as would any other library!
- Decorate your windows
- With just a spray bottle of water and different foam shapes you can decorate your windows! Spray your window with some water then place the foam shape on the wet part of the window. This should make it stick to the window and is easily removable
- Play in the rain
- Put on your finest rain clothes and romp around in the rain! Jump in puddles! Find a dry area to set up some music to have a dance party!
Whatever you do this spring and summer remember to HAVE FUN!!
