April is here and the Friends of the Plainfield Library (FOL) silent auction has new offerings. There are several children’s books including Presidential Pets which describes some of the unique inhabitants that lived at the White House. Looking for a gift for Mother’s Day in May? The auction has a Kristin Hannah novel that Mom will get lost in, plus Beaches, a visual escape to beaches on six continents that will sweep her away. Cookbooks with classic recipes from Amish cooks and Campbell’s kitchens are also available.
If you want to know more about life before modern conveniences, you might be interested in volumes 1, 2 and 3 of The Foxfire Series featuring hog dressing, spinning and weaving, banjo building and more. If your interest leans more towards early technology, Stay Tuned highlights landmark moments from over 50 years of television and comes with a DVD and two CDs, all still sealed. Both sets are courtesy of a member of the FOL!
