Are you ready to escape the August heat? Spend some time at the library and view the new offerings in
the Friends of the Plainfield Library (FOL) silent auction. There are books on fossils, pets, gardening,
lighthouses, Tony Bennett, and history. Several children’s books are available including Do Elephants
Ever Forget? and 1000+ Science Facts.
While a book with a plain black cover interrupted by a title may not catch your eye, the 500 pictures
inside The Movie Book will keep you turning the pages. The book is about people who make movies.
From silent film stars Clara Bow and W. C. Fields to current favorites Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl
Streep, actors and actresses from all eras are showcased. It goes behind the camera to include directors,
composers, screenwriters, special effects artists, cinematographers, and more. Each photograph is
accompanied by text written by an expert in the field.
The FOL invites you to stop by the library to see these books and more. Bids can be placed in the
notebook on the lobby kiosk. All proceed go to fund PGTPL programs for the community. Thank you for
