June News from the Children’s Room

Summer Reading Club 2025 is in full swing!

This year’s theme is Color Our World and we’re feature a variety of special programs about art for kids, as well as some exciting parties! Sign up, read, and participate in programs throughout the summer to earn fun prizes! Summer Reading Club will run through July 14.

So far this summer, we’ve had a local artist visit the library for families to create special recycled art, a Pokemon Party, Book Bedazzling, and more!

Parties

Minecraft Mayhem | Wednesday, July 2, 4:30-5:30p: Calling all Minecraft fans! Grab your friends and join us for a Minecraft party! We’ll build a farm together, forge our own tools, defeat some creepers, and more!

Baby and Toddler Jam | Thursday, July 10, 4:30-5:30p: Bring your young child and your dancing feet and bop along to kid-friendly beats! For children ages 5 and under and their caregivers. This program will feature dance music and flashing lights.

Summer Reading Club Completion Art Show and Reception | Saturday, July 12, 3-4p: Celebrate the end of Summer Reading Club! Invite your family and friends to see the colorful world we’ve created together this summer! Artwork from SRC participants will be featured. All are welcome!

Summer Lunch Programs

PGTPL is proud to be a host site for the Quaker Lunch Truck this year! Lunches are available every weekday. We also provide a program every weekday for kids, for lunch attendees and anyone else who wants to join us!

Enjoy readalouds, songs, and activities with local picture book author, Kim Howard!

Young Writer’s Notebook, 10:45-11:15a (school age children)

School age kids can visit the library to practice your creative writing skills with local author Kim Howard!

Stories, chants, rhymes, poems, sayings, and songs from your childhood are an important part of your family’s heritage. Share these with your children and have fun!

Family Literacy Tip

Story Stones: Gather some smooth stones from your garden or a local park. Use paint or markers to draw different characters, animals, and objects on the stones. Use the stones to create your own stories by arranging them in different sequences.
