Silent Auction September 2023

Silent Auction September 2023

Stop by the Plainfield Library in September to see what’s new in the Friends of the Library silent auction. There are books for gardeners, Colts fans, home repair enthusiasts, and people who simply want to relax with a good book!

This month’s auction features two very different books about rescue. The Secret Rescue: An Untold Story of American Nurses and Medics Behind Nazi Lines is a story of struggle and endurance after a plane goes down in Nazi-occupied Albania during WW II. Out of Harm’s Way: The Extraordinary True Story of One Woman’s Lifelong Devotion to Animal Rescue describes Terri Crisp’s extraordinary efforts to save animals during natural and man-made disasters, and the bond that forms between humans and animals.

On the lighter side, The Grumpy Guide to Life is full of attitude from the disgruntled feline Grumpy Cat. If you like French Bulldogs, you will enjoy Frenchie Kisses with its many pictures of the beloved breed. Some say that Winston Churchill resembles a Frenchie, and the book begins with one of his quotes! For a few more laughs, you might like Growing Like a Weed and Starting from Scratch from A For Better or For Worse Collection.

These books and more can be found in the display case in the Plainfield Library lobby. The auction is made possible by generous donations from library supporters. Auction proceeds go to support library programs for the community.
