April is here and the Friends of the Plainfield Library have new offerings in the Silent Auction! There are
books about landscaping and backyard living, cooking, aviation history, and more. Two sealed puzzles
are available, one with cute dogs and the other with cute frogs (it is a National Geographic puzzle).
Mother’s Day will be in a few weeks and we have books about women, by women and for women that
the special ones in your life might enjoy. The Hotel Nantucket and The Five-Star Weekend, both by best-
selling author Elin Hilderbrand, are set in Nantucket. For fans of Amish fiction, The Brides of Webster
County includes four Amish romance novels. Heroines of Mercy Street tells the true stories of the Civil
War nurses at Mansion House, the setting for the PBS drama Mercy Street. It depicts and reveals their
personal contributions to this astounding period in the advancement of medicine.
These items and more are available because of generous donations and will be in the lobby case through
April. Bids can be placed in the notebook on the library kiosk and you will be called if you are the high
