Coming Soon: PIN Required for Libby and Other OverDrive Services

Important security updates are coming to the way patrons access some of our digital resources.

Beginning in October, patrons will need to enter their library card number and PIN when signing in to Libby and the OverDrive digital library website. The same requirement will apply to Kanopy. This change is part of a new OverDrive requirement designed to provide more secure access to library digital resources.

When will the change happen?

The new PIN requirement will take effect sometime in early October for everyone who accesses materials through the Libby app or directly from the Indiana Digital Library website (idl.ovderdrive.com).

What do patrons need to do?

To avoid any access issues with OverDrive services, patrons should know their library PIN in addition to their library card number before October 1st. OverDrive strongly recommends that libraries encourage patrons to confirm or reset their PIN ahead of the transition.

If you already know your library card number and PIN, no action is needed until the new sign-in requirement takes effect.

We understand that changes to familiar services can sometimes be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience as we make this security update. Library staff will be happy to assist patrons who need help with their library account or PIN.

Thank you for helping us make access to the Library’s digital resources more secure.
