July brings the 250th anniversary of our nation with much celebration! The Friends of the Plainfield Library silent auction features books about the founding of our country. Revolutionary Summer: The Birth of American Independence brings together the personalities and decisions that shaped the course of our history. Founding Martyr is a biography about Dr. Joseph Warren, one the War’s earliest activists and a key figure in the Patriot movement in Boston. Some historians believe he might have been our first President had he not been killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill!For James Herriott fans, the auction offers seasons 1 through 3 of All Creatures Great & Small on DVD, a PBS series based on his classic bestselling book. Also available is The New Yorker Cartoon Album, 1975-1985, a classic collection of cartoons spanning the decade and featuring works by well-known cartoonists. Books for cooks, superhero lovers, car enthusiasts and many others can also be found in this month’s silent auction.
