02 Dec Most checked out children’s books this year
Have you ever been curious about which books get checked out the most at the library? As the year comes to a close, we took a look at the highest-circulating items in the Children’s Room. Here are the top titles in each category for 2025:
Children’s Fiction: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball by Jeff Kinney
Children’s Graphic Novel: Dog Man: Big Jim Begins by Dav Pilkey
Picture Book: How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? By Jane Yolen
Early Reader: Mini Bluey
Toddler Book: Hello Hello Shapes by Brendan Wenzel
Children’s Nonfiction: 5,000 Awesome Facts (About Animals!) from National Geographic Kids
Children’s Magazine: National Geographic Kids
Search & Find: Cars 3: Look and Find by Emily Skwish
Read-Along: The Smart Cookie by Jory John
Children’s Audiovisual: Cars: 3-Movie Collection
So, what does this say about our young readers? Kids love familiar faces like Bluey and Disney. Humor is a huge draw for elementary school readers, just look at Dog Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. And nonfiction is in, especially when it involves animals!
Will there be new breakout titles next year, or will these favorites continue to rise to the top? We’ll have to wait and see! In the meantime, you can find all of these titles in the Children’s Room.
