The Basebent Brushers Gallery Exhibit

The Basebent Brushers Gallery Exhibit

The library is delighted to announce its first gallery exhibition of 2026, featuring the work of professional artist Libby Whipple alongside the talented artist collective The Basement Brushers. The exhibit will be on display January through February 2026, during regular library hours.

The Basement Brushers is a group of local artists who first gathered in a Brownsburg basement in 2016, organized by Stephanie Paige Thompson. Thompson’s idea of painting portraits from models in her basement has expanded into Broadcasting Brushers, an online live broadcast reaching artists all over the world.

Many of the Basement Brushers artists are professional artists who participate in juried shows, earn awards, and accept commissions throughout the region. Their combined work demonstrates the depth of skill and creativity flourishing in Hendricks County. This exhibit displays examples of the Basement Brushers’ work from several different sessions where they paint from a live model for three hours.

“It’s truly special to showcase artists from right here in Hendricks County. Libby Whipple and The Basement Brushers bring an incredible range of talent and styles, and we’re honored to share their work with our community.” said Joanna Sproull, Community Liaison at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library.

Artists include Stephanie Paige Thompson, Jeanne McLeish, Mark Burkett, Pam Newell, Donna Shortt, Sarah Shaw, Sharon Brooks, Connie Nobbe, Lauren Saunders, Jennifer Neel, Lynda Brill, Kate Orr, Kami Noland, Stephanie Spay and Libby Whipple.

The public is invited to visit the gallery, explore the exhibit, and celebrate the vibrant local arts community. A reception on Saturday, January 24 from 2 – 4pm is open to the public. For more information, please visit www.plainfieldlibrary.net.
