May has arrived and it brings warmer weather, kids out of school, and new offerings in the Friends of the Plainfield Library silent auction. There are books by or about famous people, as well as books for World War II enthusiasts and that kids will enjoy.
For young and old alike, the auction has a collector’s edition of the fantasy classic (think trolls, dragons and a wizard) The Hobbit. If superheroes are more your style, Stan Lee’s The Best Marvel Stories contains reprinted stories spanning 70 years and featuring Captain America, Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers and others.
Several cookbooks are available including Stories and Recipes of the Great Depression of the 1930’s and More From Your Kitchen Today, Vol. 1, a collection of stories and recipes from individuals who learned to survive on little during the Great Depression.
Be sure to stop by the Plainfield library lobby display case to see what interests you! Bids can be entered in the notebook on the lobby kiosk. Proceeds are used to support library programs for the community.
