Solar Eclipse Bingo: A Cosmic Adventure at PGTPL

Solar Eclipse Bingo: A Cosmic Adventure at PGTPL

On April 8, 2024* the town of Plainfield will be pitched into darkness as the moon crosses in front of the sun.  This occasion will be particularly remarkable, as central Indiana finds itself within the path of totality, offering a view of a complete eclipse, unlike the partial eclipse experienced in 2017.  To prepare for this exciting event, the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library is putting together a fun activity.

Starting Friday, March 1 through Saturday, March 23** patrons are invited to stop into the library and pick up a Solar Eclipse Bingo sheet from any public service desk.  This bingo sheet is filled with library-related tasks, such as checking out a STEM kit, visiting the Indiana Room, or signing up for our monthly newsletter. Complete a bingo (or SOLAR as we are referring to it) and you will receive a free pair of solar eclipse glasses**.  These glasses will enable you to safely view the eclipse in its entirety.

Here’s how it works: Stop by any service desk between March 1-23** to pick up your Solar Eclipse Bingo sheet. Bingo sheets will be limited to one per person and must be picked up in person. As you complete tasks, visit a service desk to receive a stamp.  Five (5) stamps in a row equals a SOLAR!  Finally, turn in your completed sheet during the week of March 24 to receive your free pair of solar eclipse glasses**.

Mark your calendars and join us in the excitement as we prepare for this celestial phenomena that won’t happen again for over one hundred years!

*PGTPL will be closed the day of the eclipse, Monday, April 8, 2024.

**Please note that glasses will be limited to one per person and will only be available while supplies last.
