Thank You, Library Interns!

Thank You, Library Interns!

Thank you to our outstanding library interns Abby Felder and Mason Burress for their hard work and dedication.

Abby Felder is a student in the Ivy Tech Library Technical Assistant (LTA) program. She has been working with Lauren McPike in the LCS department since January for her school practicum. She has spent her time learning how to catalog and process books for the library. She has also helped the Children and Teen departments with some of their programs and has worked on a photograph project in the Indiana Room. Once she receives her LTA, Abby hopes to work in a library doing book processing and circulation. She loves the behind-the-scenes work in a library and can’t wait to be part of one so she can get items into patrons’ hands.

Mason Burress is a senior at Plainfield High School. He has been enjoying his time at the library during the 2018-2019 school year. He interns with the Community Central Department at the library on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. He also interns at three additional Plainfield school libraries – Brentwood School, PHS and PCMS. He helps with marketing and promotions by placing upcoming event bookmarks in hold books each week. He organizes upcoming promotions for library-wide events such as seed packet distribution for Earth Day. He assists with staff bulletin boards and office tasks.

In addition to interning, Mason is active at school. He participates on the yearbook staff, newsmagazine staff and German Club. In his spare time he enjoys playing video games and reading. He currently works at Chicago’s Pizza in Plainfield. Mason graduates in May and  plans to begin Ivy Tech in the fall. He hopes to graduate with his LTA and to work in a library doing book processing and circulation as well.
