Spring Cleaning: Tips for Parents and Teens

Spring Cleaning: Tips for Parents and Teens

What is the big deal about Spring Cleaning anyway? It probably takes enough effort just to keep your bedroom clean! So who would want the responsibility of more than that??? But in reality, some deep scouring and a little purging can be good for your physical AND mental health. You can help yourself – and a few others – in the process.

Consider the following:

  • Decluttering can help reduce stress and depression. Letting go of items that you no longer use, or that no longer make you happy, can be freeing!
  • Things that you don’t have a use for any more can bring someone else a lot of joy! Consider donating board games to a nursing home or toys to a children’s group.
  • Living in a clean environment can actually keep you from getting sick as well. Germs like to congregate on dirty surfaces. If there is nowhere for them to hide, they won’t find their way to you!

Overall, a little cleaning can go a long way! Just a few squirts of your favorite anti-bacterial solution, a few swipes of a cloth, and a couple of “Do-I-Need-this” moments, and you are well on your way!
